Notes.....book of five rings

The Wind Book
KAZE NO MAKI

  • Do not allow the words to hold back your understanding. As words, they are inadequate. Remember that this is to be your own experience. Let the words point you in a direction: you make the trip yourself.

  • Do not carry too long a sword, nor too short.

  • A stance is waiting. Stances are meant to be taken when there is no opponent. Stances are defensive. In a battle, do not take a stance, attack.

  • Do not fix your concentration on one thing, just do it. A juggler does not concentrate on each ball. Fixating on minor concerns loses you the greater picture.

  • Do not necessarily move with speed, but with rhythm.
