Wandering Womb

existence

Wandering Womb is not a band. It a movement, an ideology in action - it has no members, but rather serves as a name to bind those who are affiliated with it, which includes everyone who has ever participated in a WW event, from the performers themselves to the cops who broke up the shows. Those who are actively working in and shaping the womb are just the ones that happen to be doing so at the time, as there are no leaders nor any concrete constitution to define what shape the womb will take, all are encouraged to participate.

At our events, we are less of the main attraction as we are instigators, a catalyst for others to make the event whole. One thing we've discovered is how effecting a single drum can be in galvanizing a crowd of multiple hundreds. We are a spark cast into a barrel of oil. We want to provide the experience of fervent rhythm fire trance to as many people as we can. To create an intense experience that will cause people to seek out more intense existences and to question the lives they lead, and the forces which dull them. This is an experience of enormous primal power that belongs to everyone, that people should not have to rely upon a single band, like ADRV, to provide for them, but rather is something they can recreate among themselves and their friends.

In this way we aid in teaching people about the value of these experiences, and with what simplicity it can be duplicated. While at times we will play indoors, booked seemingly like a band, our preference is to perform outdoors with the participation of many others, processing down city streets or in the deep wilderness. As our name suggests, we are quite nomadic, wandering from site to site, following an often spontaneous travel pattern. Favorite haunts include gatherings and festivals of all sorts, from ones previously organized, to ones we organize, to ones we may just rudely invade. Our regular instrumentation is composed of several drummers along with a horn section, various electronic noise machines, and whatever else is available, backed by an entourage of flame tricksters, stilt walkers, puppets, Chinese dragons, roller skating princesses, gorrillas in wheelchairs, musical chefs with pots and pans, and whatever other monstrous oddities are lurking about.
